Integration of EMCS with fire alarm systems is a necessity if a building is to be provided with a complete life safety system. However, there is more than one way to integrate, including âtechnical integration,â âfunctional integration,â and âcontractual integration.â Historical development of integrated systems has presented both advantages and disadvantages. New technologies, including networking with cellular design concepts will overcome the shortcomings of past integrated systems.
