Full Description

Ultraviolet (UV) D.O.S.E. is a recently developed computer program used for evaluation of UV system designs andsimulation of daily UV reactor operation. The program uses project-specific design data and reactor-specificvalidated performance models to determine the validated UV dose and to confirm the systemsability to deliver the required dose for the specified design conditions, as well as calculates UV reactorhead loss and power consumption at the design conditions for comparison with the design requirementsand guarantees submitted by UV manufacturers. It also determines if the proposed design represents avalidated UV system by comparing the UV reactor's operational variables (typically flow rate, UVT,intensity and RED) with the validation envelope of the UV system, and provides an operationalsimulation of the UV system allowing estimation of consumables replacements, maintenancerequirements, and power consumption. The program allows for the selection of several trending optionsto account for annual variations in flow rate and UVT, which results in a more realistic simulation ofoperations as compared with projected estimates based on average or design values. Various operationalstrategies for the UV system can be selected and/or varied to assist in the evaluation of improved controlphilosophies in order to complement site specific schedules/requirements as well as assist with powersavings.
