Full Description

Research objectives for this study presented in a slide presentation were to: develop and demonstrate an effective method tocharacterize potential exposure to contaminants;evaluate system responses resulting from adeliberate bio-chemical assault on a drinkingwater distribution network; and, perform system vulnerability assessment anddevelop vulnerability plots for a network, suchthat results can be easily interpreted by utilitiesand designers.Topics covered include: the vulnerability of water distribution systems tosecurity threats;use of models in assessing water systemvulnerability;recent research based on the use of Monte Carlotechniques for simulating water demands;development of models based on the integrationof stochastic demand simulation and waterquality transport; and, theuse of integrated models for studying effect ofsystem operation on consumer exposure.
